The invitations should normally be sent out three weeks to a month prior to the event in order to allow sufficient time for the vagaries of the postal service and to hear back from the guests.

Once you receive your RSVPs and Regrets (depending upon the option selected), you are now in a position to finalize the guest list. For piece of mind, it’s worth contacting those invitees from whom you have not heard, especially if numbers are important when planning seating and meals.

If you don’t hear from some individuals, who may not believe in observing the social niceties or who may be completely disorganized, assume they are coming anyway to avoid any complications later. Keep your notebook up-to-date as you hear back from the guests and let the bride-to-be know who can’t make it so that she won’t be disappointed on the day of the party.

Important Thing You Must Do Concerning The Invitations

  • Decide on the type of invitation, from informal (phone calls and email) to formal (printed invitations).
  • Include all necessary information.
  • Send out 3 to 4 weeks before the event.
  • Follow up if all RSVP’s have not been received.
  • Update the guest list.
