Scheduling the Event

How to select the best day and time when the shower is to take place to fit everyone busy agenda.

Now that you have the guest list, you need to determine when the bridal shower is to take place. Work schedules would suggest that a weekend or weekday evening is the most appropriate. By giving plenty of notice, at least three weeks before the event, your guests will have the opportunity to arrange time off in case of conflicts.

Often the type of event you are planning will influence scheduling. A tea party in the garden would suggest mid-afternoon; a barbecue on the patio is best planned for early evening, a sleep-over could start quite late, while mid-morning is perfect for brunch. If you are considering a more ambitious undertaking, such as a winery tour and tasting, a day at the spa, or a cycling tour with a picnic, then you may need to plan for more time than the usual two to three hours.

Once again, it’s essential to work with the bride regarding the schedule. She’ll know when any other showers are being held for her so you will be able to avoid conflicts or scheduling your shower back-to-back with another one. Her life is a whirlwind at the moment.

By holding the bridal shower at least two months in advance of the wedding date, you give the bride some breathing space. Scheduling the event two weeks before the wedding will only add to the pressure as she copes with the myriad of details leading up to the special day.
