Decorating Advice from Mary,
a Professional Wedding Planner
As a professional wedding planner, I’ve found that there are tons of
things that you can do to make the event spectacular. For instance, if
you’re planning an afternoon tea in the garden then you can take masses
of flowers and place them on the table on top of an elegant table linen.
You then take beautiful china and cutlery and use tulle to organize drapery
over the garden structures like pergolas. You can also use soft background
music as a mood enhancer. I always choose the bride-to-be’s or
couple’s favorite selections.
If you’re going for a more festive theme, you can take bouquets of
ribbon-tied helium-filled balloons and strategically place them throughout the
party room or use a banner emboldened with the couple’s names which makes
great focal point.
And, if you’re going for a more romantic setting you can pick
beautiful flowers from the garden or a more formal arrangement from the florist
and combine with candles of different shapes and sizes together. Then for a
special touch, add photos of the couple from childhood on, scattered throughout
the party room.
