Choosing a Location for Your PartyOnce you have determined the guest list and decided on the schedule, it’s time to choose the location. Of course, the choice will be determined by a variety of factors. If you have a tiny apartment and the size of the guest list is such that everyone will be scrunched together, then look elsewhere. Your apartment building may have a party room you can rent, but if that seems a bit sterile, perhaps the bride’s or groom’s family would be happy to make their home available. If the bride’s family is already hosting a shower, it isn’t fair to stick them with another, unless you promise to do the set-up and help with the clean up, but there are other possibilities. Don’t be reluctant to ask someone on the guest list to help with the location. If you know that Aunt Mary has a beautiful garden and you are planning afternoon tea among the roses, then put the proposition to her. She’ll be especially pleased to show off her green thumb to all the other guests. Naturally, if you are planning a rather different sort of bridal shower where the guests are involved in an activity such as trail riding, cycling, or picnicking in a nearby park, then the choice of location is determined by the activity and you will be involved in a different set of logistics. If you need to make a booking to secure a location or an activity at a location, make sure you do so well in advance. If there are some last-minute cancellations amongst the guests, you’ll want to know that the location won’t charge for people who don’t show. Next » Planning Summary |
