Traditional Bridal Shower Themes Continue to be FavoritesIf it’s a bridal shower for the bride’s family and friends both, nothing beats the traditional bridal shower themes that have become time-honored classics. They’ve been used time and again because they are always fun and always a great success, with everyone enjoying themselves and the bride receiving wonderful gifts. Perhaps the most traditional bridal shower themes is the kitchen shower. This is especially appropriate for a young bride or first-time bride who doesn’t have a lot in the way of kitchen supplies, and can be a great way to stock her kitchen cabinets as well. Have each guest bring not only a gift, but a few canned goods or spices (a set of baking spices, unusual Mexican or Thai spices for instance) and a cherished family recipe on a recipe card. If the recipe calls for an unusual ingredient, include it with the card. Other traditional bridal shower themes include lingerie parties and trousseau showers. The lingerie shower is great fun for giving her a few seductive pieces for her wedding night and beyond, but be sure you check with the mother of the bride – it’s usually her prerogative to purchase the elaborate “wedding night” gown for her daughter. Trousseau showers were once very popular, but have fallen by the wayside in recent years and are now re-emerging. These are simply showers to prepare the bride for her honeymoon trip. Find out where they are going, and purchase gifts to make it enjoyable. Hawaii? Gifts like beach towels, picnic baskets and a beautiful cover up would be perfect. Traveling across Europe? Packable, no-wrinkle clothes, film, a great leather backpack or passport wallet will make the trip easier. Phone cards, travel alarms and luxury items for on the road are appropriate, too. A Linens ‘N’ Stuff shower is a theme in which you ask each guest to bring a different gift to stock the linen closet of the couple’s new home. Gifts can be matching sheet sets, tablecloths, cloth napkins, a throw for the sofa, even accent pillows. Grandmas love this one! Want to republish this article on your website?
